Pictures of the game played june 15th, 16th and 17th 2019 - Refight of the battle of Austerlitz from the "roll up that map" campaign guide with the ESR! v2 rules.

Scale 1"=100 yards.

Miniatures are : AB 18mm, Blue-moon 18mm, Old Glory 15mm and Essex 15mm. AB 18mm are painted by professional painter Laurent Groscolas.

The order of battle of the game we played is based on "Napoleon and Austerlitz" by Scott Bowden @1997 The Emperor's Press (USA).

The French deployment.

The artillery of Lannes's Vth corps deployed on the Santon hill with alongside the division of Suchet and the Dragoons of Walther in support on the right. Behind in reserve the division of Caffarelli.

On the right of Jirshikowitz the Vandamme's division of the IVth corps of Soult. On the far right deployed in the village of Puntowitz the division of Saint-Hilaire.

The game begins...

On the French left wing Lannes decided to move his divisions to artillery range.

Whereas Bagration decided to attack.

The Russian imperial guard are moving to be placed on the heights behind Blasowitz.

Only the infantry and artillery activated theirs orders, the cavalry waited...

In the centre Jurczik's Austrian brigade went down the Pratzen heights to support the column of Miloradovitch advancing toward the village of Pratzen.

Liechtenstein's cavalry Vth column move to support Bagration on the Russian right wing.

In the distance we can see the Ist column of Doctorov moving in oblique with Kienmayer's advance guard in support.

In the front, the guardsmen climbing the Blasowitz heights.

In the centre we can see the strange move of Doctorov walking in parade in front of Langeron.

On the right we can see the Ist corps of Bernadotte advancing with the cavalry of Murat in support on his right.

The cossacks were repulsed. The second wave of Russian dragoons and third wave of cuirassiers are prepared to charge now.

The Russian hussars cut to pieces the French Dragoons which were routed. The hussars retreating in the rear to rest.

The Russian dragoons & cuirassiers of Bagration attacked the Santon and the French infantry of Lannes and were repulsed. (Sorry I didn't take pictures of the fight).

On the left we can see the division of Rivaud de la Raffinière occupying the village of Blasowitz.

The Russian imperial guard continues to deploy on the Blasowitz heights.

The guardsmen infantry deploys on the slope of the hill.

The artillery continues to move followed by 4 squadrons of the lifeguard hussars alongside with the squadron of guard cossacks. Behind them the 4 squadrons of chevaliers-garde and the 4 squadrons of horse-guard.

Behind the hills we can see the cavalry corps of Liechtenstein in column progressing in the direction of Bagration.

In the distance Doctorov and Kienmayer marching slowly toward the village of Kobelnitz.

On the French left wing, we can see the two divisions of the corps of Bernadotte around the village of Blasowitz flanked by the cavalry of Murat.

French eargerness...

Murat send all his superb heavy cavalry to the Russian guard.

On the right 2 squadrons of Carabiniers à cheval against 2 Russian guard battery.

On the left 2 squadrons of Cuirassiers against 2 squadrons of Lifeguard hussars.

Sans résultat - The two divisions of French heavy cavalry fell back to reorganise. The Russian cavalry did the same. Draw match - with a lot fatigue accumulated both side.
